Lovage is a single species with a deep history in Alpine Europe. It forms a mound of shiny, celery-like leaves and puts up a 6 ft. flower stalk with an umbrel of tiny yellow flowers in June and July. It is a wonderful attracter of beneficial insects. The plant, and mostly seeds, are strongly aromatic with a powerful, celery-like flavor. Used in salads, stews, pestos and also in cordials and perfumery. Best in rich soil and full sun.
