Sisyrinchium is a fairly large genus from North and South America, though it’s widely naturalized. A clump forming plant that grows 12-18 inches with semi-evergreen, linear leaves like a mini iris. S. graminoides, commonly known as Blue-eyed grass, is a North American native that I have found in Vermont growing in warm, sandy locations. In summer, the erect stems make successions of short lived flowers of deep blue with a yellow throat. Before they open each day the back sides of the petals show white creating a striking contrast. It seems fairly adaptable, but good drainage is important. Works well in rock garden conditions.
Sold in deep 4” pots. Well established clump.
