Syringa reticulata (Oleaceae)

$25.00

The Japanese tree lilac is a well known ornamental tree from East Asia that is used extensively in urban landscaping because of its resistance to salt and pollution. It flowers later then the shrub type lilac with creamy white panicles, and grows in a more tree form especially when grown in the open. The plants I have been growing were gathered as seedlings from along Rte 2 in Plainfield where they were scattered by trees planted on the Goddard campus when it was the Martin farm. They grow over the road as one drives West out of Plainfield, filling the late June air with perfume.
