Trillium (Melanthiaceae)
Trilliums are a ubiquitous woodland plant in the eastern US, there are in fact at least 35 different species native to the eastern US with a center of distribution in the Georgia mountains. Here in New England the well known T. erectum, or wake robin, fills the woods. In western Vermont the white flowering species, T. grandiflora can be found. We have been slowly propagating several dramatic species including T. luteum, T. roseum and T. cuneatum but they are slow, taking many years to germinate and flower. We do have some small seedlings if folks are interested but they are probably 3 years away from flowering. We have also been propagating the double white trillium, T. grandiflora ‘Multiplena’. A renowned natural double form that will produce an impressive clump of long lasting spring blooms. A rare offering.
T. grandiflora ‘Multiplena’ - Sold in 4” pots, blooming size with 2 growing tips.
